Based upon our family’s vision of long-term growth and preserving our heritage, we will operate our farm business in harmony with our community and the land God has blessed us to farm. It is our mission to produce and market the highest quality of fruit and products for our customers to enjoy.
Our family farm was established in 1867, originally a dairy farm. We cared for dairy cows and gathered milk for many years before planting the family’s first blueberry bush.
The first blueberry bush was planted in 1956 by Grandpa George Fritz, Sr. Blueberries are now our top crop.
Family continues to own and operate the farm. Brothers William and George Fritz, Jr., partner together to continue the family business now named Brookside Farms. With their children they operate the farm, making the farm a 7th generation farm – 5th as blueberry growers.
The farm has three retail/u-pick locations in the Gobles, Paw Paw, and Martin communities in Michigan.
All berries not sold through the retail locations are sold commercially, exclusively through Naturipe Farms. These berries are 90% handpicked with the help of many migrant workers. The farm can house up to 750 migrant workers at any one time.
The home farm has 350 acres planted with blueberries. We custom pick and pack 500 acres in the Holland/Muskegon area.
In 2013, the farm picked 4.2 million pounds of fresh blueberries, processed a half million berries, and 100,000 pounds were picked by u-pick customers.
